I don't think the Dirty D scandal alone will help, but as more and more sponsors stop paying out, pay out late, or selectively payout, it's going to reflex really bad on programs who do their own payouts in house.
Sometimes holding affiliates money is too much power for some people to have. Which is a shame cause there's alot of honest program out there doing their own in house payouts but a few bad apples could potentially hurt them. imhoComment

The Dirty D situation only reflects poorly on Dirty D.
Some of the largest programs out there are stand alone and don't go through CCBill or Epoch.
I don't think the actions of one sponsor in any way speak for the stability of other programs.

It's more than one program unfortunately. In the past 8 days I've seen 4 or 5 new sponsors aren't paying me threads, or sponsor is paying me late.
For the affiliates that have been around a long time they know who they can trust and who the new programs are but for people who are new, I can see a whole new trust issue rising.

After all the shit that came out in that thread about Dirty D, I honestly think payouts is the least of his fucking problems. Dude stealing someone's content and filming underage girls is far fucking more scarier than not paying your affiliates. Money is one thing but exposing your affiliates to underage content that was on his site for a year can land not only him but everyone who promoted using that content in jail for distribution of child porn.
What's even scarier, Dirty D will come back, maybe even pay Shoehorn and then its back to business as usual. Everyone will forget the underage shooting, using untested performers off the street, stealing someone else's work, etc... until the next scandal with this asshole breaks when all this shit will be brought up again at that time.
That to me says a lot about our business. More people are outraged that Shoehorn did not get paid than there are people pissed that they were marketing his shit using content that featured a 17 year old performer or that he (if true) managed to steal all of whore monger's crackwhoreconfessions content without appropriate compensation.Comment

I will admit, seeing this stuff, especially when it comes right around the holidays is a HUGE bummer for me. This is really the time of year when people need money the most.
I understand if a program is going under they have no money to make their payouts, but if that's the case they need to fucking man up about it. You can't let your business go to the point where you can't afford to pay people the money they are owed. It's completely irresponsible and if that's what's happening here I suspect some major bridges will be burned.
When someone logs in to their account and sees their earnings / commission due they tend to start to budget for that money before the check has been received.
I hope that's not the case. I would hate to see the actions of the few taint the industry to have negative repercussions for the many.

What could you be doing with it that would result in the site being offline? You said before that you're changing hosts. You also said you're having the site redesigned. I've changed hosts and had my sites redesigned, and neither of those things resulted in any downtime.

But if you do not see the reason for concern that a producer has an allegation that he knowingly shot an underage model and then had this content on his site for an entire year which affiliates used to promote for his site, then I am concerned for you. There is nothing wrong with porn online or as a business. Its not the bad seeds that bothers me, its the apparent acceptance of those bad seeds that allows them to remain and have the negative impact. Look at the situation for what it is. Those articles about that chick and Dirty D are a year old....yet that was not seen as a big deal. But Shoehorn gets screwed and you'd have thought the world had collapsed. It gives a very bad perception that adult does not care if those allegations are true of the underage performer but don't pay your affiliate and we have total meltdown and hangings. Its the lack of reaction to meaningful issues that is the problem.Comment
