Have any of you ever moved to a small (rural) town that has a clique? (close-knit community that distrusts 'outsiders' and people who haven't lived there for generations).
I passed through one on the way to a hippie fest and we got pulled over and searched. Luckily, all our shit was hidden in groceries and the dumb fuck pig couldn't smell it with his snout. I'm lucky I didn't get corn-holed.
I unfortunately grew up in one, didn't have a very nice time of it since they were all big on conformity (to their standards, I suppose) and I'm not big on conforming, to anything really...

if you had got caught it would be a straight to tv movie by now
I grew up in suburb by my folks grew up in place like that and when we all went to their hometown sometime last year, people there started scrutinizing me with their eyes, from head to foot. It was very creepy
Live in a good sized metro area of 150k... Not small but it always felt small until I went to visit my cousins in Kansas when I was in high school. Flew in and drove to to the town and immediately felt the eyes. Everyone knew I didn't belong there. It was really weird, everyone waved and knew everyones business.
Sometimes me and my friends joke about moving into a small town as we drive to go skiing or something and pass all of these towns stuck in time. It would be interesting to say the least.
Currently living in a small town exactly like you described.
Thankfully my grandparents had been respected members of this town for many years before moving.
We have been "accepted" to the town from day one.
They can be absolutely ruthless and very unwelcoming to outsiders.
Not to mention if they found out what I do as a side biz they would probably get a lynch mob together.
I live in a pretty small town 30k or less... Was only about 20k living here when I grew up. It's one of those places where everywhere you go you run into people you know. It's a pretty quaint little place and I'm comfortable here, however I need to constantly travel so I don't go stir crazy.
