I'm watching Terminator 2 tonite LOL hence the question...

I would steal the most heavy duty offroad truck I could find at the dealership down the road, load it up with supplies and gas and drive north up to Algonquin Park.

It would be like the movie Red Dawn, I would live up there living off the land, until I knew what was going down. LOL!

Since i live so close to the heart of all evil....i'd be vaporized instantly by anything larger than 5 kilotons.

But should there ever be a "pre-warning" the best chance you have would be with an assault rifle & a dirtbike/4-wheeler.

All major roads will be impassable within an hour, & "offroad" trails are few and far between around most major cities, so an offroad heavy duty would be stopped at the first tree line.

Too bad assault rifles aren't allowed up there...the first guy with a shotgun in the woods will take your dirt bike.

If you can't make it out of a major city, you're dead. If you can't find deep shelter, i.e. a mine shaft, or bomb shelter outside of a city within 12-24 hours, you're dead from fallout.

A gps device with a known location of a wine cellar on the outside of town is your best bet. Of course the EMP will probably knock out your gps, so have a map

Of course you then have the problem of collecting food thats not already irradiated, so lets hope that wine cellar has wheels of cheese.

You'd have no way of knowing what areas were safe because the government would surely have collapsed as well. There would be out of control rioting in all the cities. No food. No power. Seriously though, there has actually been some interest in NuclearAttack.com with offers into the mid 100s.

I dont understand the concept of building a bomb shelter. I mean, are you sure you WANT to survive? What if the whole world is fucked up?

I think it might be better if it landed right on top of you and got it over with.
