I think it all depends on the age of your kids. I listen to a lot of NY radio, and I got the impression a lot of Ney Yorkers feel the same way. Just let the day go by, and PLEASE skip the stories of celebs who say they were "just having breakfast on some Virgin Island" when they heard of the bad news. Those stories are not really going to help anyone that has serious loss. Broadcasting stuff like that will only make those people more mad. Couldn't agree more. Who cares where I (or any celebrity skank) was, watching the news on CNN.
On th eother hand, I heard the chief fireman say yesterday that he thinks it is a good thing it is being shown every now and then, to keep the US alert.
When is the last time YOU heard about the 93 WTC bombing? Probably not much prior to 9/11.
