    Why would someone send a 1099 too the UK?

    I got one this morning and it seems a waste of money to send non-US webmasters 1099's

    Or am I missing something?

                  There are a couple of sponsors around who seem to have hired clueless financial advisors/accountants (one very big) and do stuff like that. As was said, either ignore it or drop the sponsor unless you really feel like giving the US government all your financial and personal details for no real reason.

                                              This is correct, and also to cover their ass so they can write it off. It's up to you f you claim it on your taxes or not.
