it's a good time. i'm a pretty big guy, bout 6'3" so i usually don't mosh. i do my duty and keep the edge of the pit from spilling into bystanders. ;)
but if there are some bigger guys in the pit i will join it. just gotta follow proper rules, and help someone up if you knock em down.Cry havoc and let slip the dogs of war.Comment

I was at the Troc in Philly many moons ago. Sound Garden and Faith No More were there. This is right before both of them got big.
I was in the pit, but there were all these skinheads moshing a little too rough. People were getting hurt. I worked my way to the fringe of the pit and was banging my head violently when I felt this sharp pain in the crown of my skull. I turned around to see this huge black guy holding his mouth. I gave him a reverse headbutt to his front teeth!!
He shoved me hard in the chest sending me flying backinto the chaos. My one friend saw it from across the pit and was laughing about it the rest of the night.

Best one I've been in was for GWAR (remember them?). Much fun, great energy, no problems with people getting knocked down or hurt (although I still wore the steel toes... protect your feet and the mosh is way more fun I've found). I must have put a couple dozen people up to crowd surf that night.
Too old now. Now I just watch the next generation of jackasses and wonder if my generation had made as large a steam cloud back in the day.

i got really hurt in a mosh pit at a Weezer Concert in this small ass club in Pittsburgh, PA (called Metrapole in the Strip District)
anyways, i was 16 yrs old at the time. i was moshing, fell down, and couldnt get back up. i was being stepped on, kicked, pushed because nobody saw me on the floor.....i thought i was going to die. Luckly, some big dude cleared a small circle for me and picked me up and brought me to the side of the club. after that, i enjoyed the show from the 2nd floor balcony area lol

jeeze all this talk about pits at weezer shows? and pri,mus shows? gimmie a break only one person said DK.. you want a pit go to a punk show.. at a local venue.. and no.. blink is not punk either is green day or rancid.. rancid is half punk but that does not count... go see DK, Black Flag... if you want excitement go to a misfits show.. get up fron aginst the rail.. and watch what happends when they come out... I ended up with a broken jaw at the last danzig show when Doyle was playing with him,.... the lights went dim.. then all of a sudden "20 eyes" breaks out really fast and hard.. and with danzig sining.. I guess there's something to be said for controlled violence. The great film Rollerball dared to call it evolutionary that "war" had been replaced with a "game" where people died... I am not sure about that, but the argument is strong. It depends on whether you think we are inescapably violent by nature, or, if you believe we can do better.

During Donington rock festival last year I squeezed myself down to the front as Sabbath, Slipknot and Slayer were playing last. Spent the Slipknot part of the night in the moshpit..it was fun but brutal. I backed away for the last two bands but was still near the front. It's crazy in the moshpit during Slipknot. I used to go see this band called mas red. There was always a mosh pit. I used to stand on the perimeter because i didnt want to get all sweaty and shit. One dude ran into me full steam. It was on. We must have floored each other about 6 times until i charged at him and lowered my shoulder to foot ball tackle him. But he felt frail and screamed like a girl. It wasnt until I was halfway through my picture perfect open feild tackle did i realize he moved out of the way and I just lit up his chick. Man I felt so bad.

Fun as a teenager.. you can only get kicked in the head so many times by crowd surfers with boots though before you feel like punching them so hard your fist collects kidney juice everytime they go over head.
