This is what I am hoping, it may be the only good thing Harper does for me.

          "Party values"?!

What value does a political party have that rips us off for millions upon millions of tax dollars, not to mention the $2,000,000,000 (that's billions) for the ridiculous gun registry.

It wasn't "just the scandal". The sponsorship scandal was only one symptom of the systemic corruption the entire Liberal party is based on.

In a way...you were right. Canadians voted based on stopping the future plans of Liberal corruption.

i don't agree with the gun registry either but the liberal party stands a lot more for personal rights and freedoms than the conservatives. there are several personal freedoms they want to take away, the obvious ones being abortion and gay rights.

everyone always goes back to how they stole billions but even then, everyone just listens to what they read in the papers. no one actually read the report, not the average voting citizen anyways.

but if your personal values are more right than left, so be it but for so many ridings to come out conservative only a year and some later it seems to me most people jumped ship due to the sponsorship scandal.

After listening to his speech, I noticed a couple of things.

First, Harper can be a very compelling speaker.

Second, part of his opening line, "Thanks for your prayers," and his closing line, "God bless Canada," sound a little too familiar and none too comforting.

Liberals seemed to do alright here the last 12 years in a row ;) I'm hoping Harper doesn't go all crazy right wing bush lovin christian on us... he won't last long as prime minister if he does.

every government wastes money, but at least the liberals stayed in the black. any liberal who was accused of wrongdoing was canned, the judge didn't point fingers in the sponsorship scandal.

the gun registry is part of liberal bs on gun ownership, you take the good with the bad.
