Do you? If so, what is it and do you see any drawbacks? I was thinking to make a 'top my main workhorse of choice, but I can't decide if I am willing to make the switch.
Do you work exclusively on your laptop?

yes I have been working solely on my dell for the last yearComment

I've been working solely on my laptop for a bit over a year and love the convenience of it. Started with an Acer 15.4" - a bit like a desktop replacement, but just switched to a lil Sony Vaio TX650. While at the office, I do use dual monitors though cause I tend to run out of room.
Wouldn't go back to using a desktop though, personally...Comment

At the office, for the company I work for, I use the desktop; dual monitor Dell.
At home, if I'm just coding, I use my Asus laptop; enough screen for dual text windows.
At home, if I need to do any design work that really, really needs dual monitors, I use my home desktop; dual monitor Dell.
My wife just got me a 60gb ipod. Before that, I used to take my laptop with me everyday to work, to transfer what I worked on the night before to the desktop at work and the inverse of that. Now, I just carry the ipod around and transfer what I need between whatever computer I need to work on (well, save for the home network between lappy and home desktop).
That's my retarded situation. *shrug*Your post count means nothing.Comment

yup work solely on my laptop and remote desktop to my desktop. There's nothing like being able to sit anywhere inside or outside and do work. Especially on beautiful days like today

laptops are nice since you can throw them in the closet (or the back of your car) and forget about it sometimes ;-)Comment

I can't stand to do any actual work on my laptop. I just use it for email and forums and other stuff that doesn't require a lot of attention to detail.
The biggest issue for me is the keyboard and mouse are kind of a pain in the ass . Of course you could have external everything, but then its not really a laptop anymore, its a pseudo-desktop LOL
I need to have my big fancy computer to do real work.Last edited by Cman; 01-20-2006, 06:29 PM.I could put stuff here, but you don't care.Comment

I did that about 4 years ago when I was living at the beach casa...decided to get all jellish with the laid back vibe, etc...try to get nomadish with the gear, etc...
anways, bought a nice 'desktop replacement' from dell, 4kish monster of the time, anyways, after some work, I seriously got tired of the small monitor (was huge for a laptop at the time), also plugged in a MS natural keyboard and mouse to the setup, but in the end, when you need a box to stay 'cool' as shit and perform, there is no true 'desktop replacement' not that I know of...
although I'm sure that could have changed in the last few years, right now I work off of about 3-4 desktops for diff shit and still use that old laptop for road trips...

I remote desktop to my, um, desktop for the hardcore stuff. I can do anything on my laptop with the internal network and be extremely mobile. It's much better than just sitting in the office.-uno
