When you see PPS what do you think it means?

I have noticed some programs pay on a PPS but only if they become a full member pay-per signup and some pay-per trial before they become a full member.

one should be called PPS and the other PPT not to be confused?

Or is this something you dont understand or even look into once you see PPS

Just like some rev-share Programs have a trial on the sites and some don't.

PPS=Pay Per Signup = Pay when a join of some kind is made. Trial, Monthly, whatever.

PPA=Pay Per Active= Pay only when a trial converts to a member.

Thats how I've always seen it.

edit. So I guess if someone is calling their payout type "PPS" but only paying when a trial converts.. it's not quite what I'd call accurate, lol. A "sign up" is when credit card is accepted IMHO.

PPA also pays directly when the member decides to signup for a monthly membership instead of a trial

Yeah, that makes sense because it's an "active member" either way

I just think every program needs to be a little more clear on what their definition is on PPS

ANd they do check and charge the CC on a PPT that will convert into a PPS in a day or whatever your trial period is. its just not as hard of a pill to swallow

Yeah, plus pay per free (though very rare these days) is another PPS distinction.

Exactly PPF It slipped my mind. sometimes people have High payouts but its only if the PPS was a full membership which is alot tougher to get then a PPT or even a PPF

PPS = Pay Per signup, no matter what kind of signup, check, trial or full.

I know but dont you think its should be a little more defined now? so you dont have to dig for it or how the program pays?

I'm going to have to define our trials a bit more maybe. I just hate how loose the definition of PPS is and its confusing.
also programs need to show what company will be sending there checks I always have to dig for there corp name.

I think PPS is the standard definition, if a program tries to label paying per active as pay per signup and really hiding it in the terms, guess how long it'll take before a webmaster pulls their links... If a program is paying per active, they may as well say it up front or else a webmaster will eventually find out.

I see your point but how would you really know if they dont define it? by it not converting as well as another program?

Yes some prgrams do and It's great and easy to decide.

I would also Like to know if the sites have a trial or not without having to dig all these factor heavily in my PPS decisions when promoting someone.

Oh yeah, you'd notice the conversion ratios for sure. If you have a typical ratio of 1:400 for PPS, then you can expect a much much worse ratio for PPA, unless they hide their stats somehow by only tracking people who go to join pages for example. Nevertheless, you should notice it.

It all depends on the conversions. I know some sites that have no trial that convert better at $29.95 than several of the largest program's sites with trials.
I've trusted my sites to them for over a decade...

it's shady if they hide behind the veil of pps, but any webmaster with half a brain should notice it fast.

I've always viewed PPS as simply a 1 time payout for some sort of transaction as opposed to rev share which would be an ongoing payout... The details of the PPS program could be anything at that point, or they could have multiple PPS programs. i.e. It's just a catch-all as a way to differentiate between a revshare program.

Great thread Roger , I agree lots of sponsors claim to be doing the PPS model , but what is not told is only when you get a full conversion out of it .
