    The Geo-Targeting Craze

    Although this may not be much of a prediction, allow me to here and now say, I predict a major increase of geo-targeted ads in tours, pop-ups, webcam ads, and dating sites in the adult industry. It's not too hard to figure out why. Geo-targeting ads are quickly becoming the next big thing. Why? Because they get the surfers attention and curiosity.

    What is geo-targeting? Simply put, by using a surfer's IP to determine information about them and use it towards the ads they are shown while visiting your site. Targeting your audience by geography means using region-specific advertising, and with more and more countries getting online, geo-targeting is a method you will surely see being used more and...               You're right. Ive been fascinated by this for a long time now, and yes. going to impliment this in the near future.

              Before it was even doable, I was questioning if it were possible.

              BTW, whenever I see one, ,it always has "Newport Beach" which is the exact city I live. It's not a very big city either.

                  i think the tour uniqueness will appeal to many but what happens when they are looking for people in Newport Beach.

                              its not hard to geo-target zipcodes in the US and display ads.

                              so if you can identify the zipcode of an ip, thats way enough info to locate that city on a map or in a database.

                                              TGPs have been using country GEO targeting longer than anyone....

                                              and I don't see how its gonna help paysites. Unless they want to offer somthign thier not gonna diliver like localized content.

                                                                          coders (this week) have noticed increased numbers in people inquiring about it.

                                                                                  They publicly released the "iframe ads" first, but I offered them the ability to utilize our Geo marketing graphics a couple months back and they declined because they were already in development - kudos to them for their efforts.

                                                                                  I think what we have brought to market is superior in generating eyeballs, however.

                                                                                  We are supposed to be a business of SMART MARKETERS, all the naysayers and "this isn't MY CITY" people are missing the point.

                                                                                  If it's accurate only 70% of the time and doubles or triples click-thru rates and revenue- wtf?

                                                                                  Just use it!

                                                                                                                                          The GEO:IP Apache module is nothing new and those of us who saw the advantages of geo filtering both their traffic and ads dynamically embraced this method of marketing more than 4 years ago.

                                                                                                                                          The fact that it is only catching on among the general webmaster / affiliate program populous now shows just how old this technology is and, unfortunately, you have missed the boat for making any serious money utilizing this technology.

I think the issue here is not how long the technology has been around, or whether those who are expounding its benefits are behind the times. The most important question is are they being used effectively and to advantage today? The answer -- abso-fucking-lutely.

People seem to think all we do is gay stuff... this really int the case just as it isnt the case that it is purely adult orientated businesses we run.
