30 to 60 days I had to tell my 16 year old.

sucks, this is the first time I ever saw my credit report. bizzare.

Sorry to hear that. So the A/E card didn't go through so you could pay it off in a week as stated in another thread? Maybe it is a good thing, you love your daughter and wanted safety with clout.

Just remember that any SUV is shit without an after market roll cage mounted right.

When I was 16, I had to scrape together $1500 so I could go buy my own first car.

An audi 4000. Nice little red 5-speed manual transmission with a manual sunroof.

        Gawd,

Thats just rediculous. I dont care how much money someone has. Without a doubt the first car someone ever has is gona get totaled or damaged in some way..

A kids first car should always be uses that way if they damage it in the first year your not screwed and they dont look like a spoiled brat.

I remember when I was in high school there was this little bitch who uses to constantly brag about the mustang her daddy and mommy bought her.

        UG, sick.

Fuck, im 21.. I work hard and I still dont own a car.

I have to agree, not to rain on the parade of your daughter, she sounds like she's not your normal 16 year old, but a brand new BMW is not the way to go here.

Do her a big favor, buy her something that is easy to fix body wise, Ford Bronco, Chevy Blazer, something with a few miles on it, trust me when I say this, either she will dent it up, or her inexperience behind the wheel in defensive driving will have someone denting it up for her.

Stick the difference in a T-Bill or something that will grow some interest, nothing is worse and ego deflating than having a brand new car with a big brand new dent on the side of it.

Obviously you have money now days, but your thinking and spending responsibility you speak of that got you in trouble in 1999 seems to still be the frame of thinking you are in today.

Just be careful.. Earning money and having money comes and goes.. Its how you manage it that matters.

heh..i agree a bmw for a first car is sorta nuts. It isnt the kinda car that will be cheap on parts...plus, girls dont really care what they drive, especially at that age. They just wanna get from point a to point b. I bet she would be just as happy in a honda.

you might wanna start small, and move up when she knows how to drive. Most teens have accidents. But its your money

If it isn't BMW X5 4.4 AC Schnitzer it ain't shit. Your daughter will have psychological problems in her puberty because of wrong car decision. Sad.

Spending this kind of dough on your children will seriously hamper them later in life. They will become economically dependent upon you, mark my words...

It's a very nice thought to want to provide your children with only the best, but at the same time you could be doing them more harm than good.

Lol, bmw or not.. I think having a drivers license at 16 is ridiculous. You can drive a leathal weapon when you're not even adult, but you can't drink beer until 21. I find it amazing.

But who am I to judge. I drank beer underage here, and I'm sure many do there too. However I don't think I was fit to drive a car at 16. Now to think, I think they shouldn't have given me a drivers licence until I turned 20

If I were you, I'd buy a piece of shit car for her. She WILL crash it eventually, small or big.
I basically drove a 1985 ford escort into the back of a stil car at 40mph, and I walked out of it, as well as the 4 guys I had on with me. The dumbfuck who spinned the car in front of me which I hit also walked away unharmed. Buying a huge, expensive SUV is overkill. Besides, it's much easier to roll over if she does something stupid.

Besides, she's much more likely to back a big car into a post than a small car.
                              ..and I'm off.

I don't mean to sound negative, but whomever told you that you can clear up anything on your credit within 90 days is lying to you. Even if you pay outstanding balances etc. It still stays on your credit report for 1-2 years or more sometimes and won't change your score for a long, long time. It is super easy to get something negative put on your credit report, but getting it taken off or even marked as paid, settled etc. is a real hassle. Good luck to you! Credit reporting agencies can be nightmares.

i can confirm this, when i was 16, i totaled my first car, hell it wasnt even my first car... it was my moms car... went 3 years without a vehicle, im 19 now, and i bought my dads 92 mitsubishi eclipse for $1k, and now that im doing decent for myself, i turned around and traded that off for a 1998 Chevy Malibu LS for $4k

being still a kid myself, i think nobody under 21 should own a car any better then a chevy caviler
