Could you have lost the WEP (encryption) keys on one or both of the systems (if you had that setup) ?
I have that same router, and in one case, I had to manually forward a port to an attached device to make it work; in my case, a vonage modem. Perhaps some port settings got tweaked.
Can you see your laptop in the router admin page as an attached device at least?
