That is strange....When it does not work like you said, what if you uninstall your ati driver in "apparaatbeheer" and restart windows...It will probably select the default Windows XP driver for ATI, and you are ready to go...
Advice for the next time, why update a VGA driver, when it works
Especially ATI drivers are horrible...Nvidea drivers seems to be more stable...
