9/11 was a terrible day that I am sure none of us will ever forget. Less than 2 weeks before the attacks, I walked over the Brooklyn Bridge, admiring the twin towers. I never thought they were that good looking, but damn they were big. I sat down in a park across the bridge, just realxing, and looking up at the towers, amazed by their size. Little did I know they would be gone 2 weeks later.
I don't know if any of you had a chance to get to NY to visit Ground Zero, but I went up there in early January, a couple of days after they opened the viewing platform. A friend and I stood in line for about two and a half hours before we got our two minutes on the platform. It was some sight... I felt sad and mad all over again.... but I'm glad I got to pay my respects.
What really got to me were the makeshift memorials that were still standing all around the area. Some of the stuff was REALLY heart breaking. Like this:
