Got a friend in a US law agency who deals with this stuff - volunteers counselling to victims and lectures on "how it is" etc.

There are plenty damned weirdos out there that are never "captured" and some damned odd relationships that last for many years. It's also amazing how kids families and parents can be so damned abusive. It's far more common than ya may think.

The irony is it "appears" to be a vicious circle where the abused then move on to be the abusers.
