A few of my friends do eco/bio related stuff and have an great lifestyle doing "projects" with various international orgs and being "experts" in some field or other.
This takes them to the middle of the desert growing veg and to places like the Galapagos islands. One is the kinda "Crocodile Dundee" for reptile world and has loads of stuff published, both books and mags like National Geographic.
Another was in jungle territory in South America - they forgot the do the monthly air drop of food!

But, he found some very interesting mushrooms and he can tell ya how to get high on gnats piss now!
Seriously.. bio and eco is becoming a major factor and it's actually being funded fairly well.
