I remember a time when I went to my 9-5 job after it was over I went out with friends, went to dinner, saw movies etc.

Now with the internet the job is no longer 9-5 the internet never closes so it is in essence a 24 hour job.

Now my workplace has invaded my home. And if you don't have a seperate office than your bedroom that brings on more issues such as affected sleeping patterns.

I can't seem to relax anymore, and most if not all people I know who have net jobs feel the same way. The beast is always there calling you. You have family over and sneak off to check email, ICQ or stats...stuff we didn't do years ago.

When I left my job I didn't walk away from family to call in to see how they were doing. The office was closed. They were all out eating with their families.

My goal is to eventually move away from the internet business wise 100% even if it means to go back to work in a brick and mortar.

It has had it's benefits, but IMO they do not outweight the added costs.

I don't blame it all on the internet, I just don't think most people are ready or balanced enough to limit its control over our lives.
Very well said! Those of us old enough to remember when there was no internet remember very well the seperation of work and home. Seems there was a full 24 hours in a day back then.
