You can transfer your numbers, don't have to lose them due to the number portability act!!
I don't know if my referral link code will work.. but if you sign up for Vonage based on my advice, why not let me make something out of it?
I've been using Vonage for over 3 years very happily.

Pretty much it's that easy, yeah. And I can also say that I've done number portability more than once. I've also got Toll Free lines with Qwest that I point to my Vonage lines. Basically, when you save money like is easy with Vonage then the nuisance bad connection or problem every once in a while doesn't really matter to you anymore.

i agree. i have a toll free on my main vonage line (which was ported from a cell phone) and a fax line. I've run a few lines all at the same time on my cab;e modem connection without any problems. if you do have problems youcan tweek your bandwidth saver in the control panel.Originally posted by Brad MitchellPretty much it's that easy, yeah. PS - want to really have some fun? connect to a hotel's wireless connection and bridge your hardwire network port then plug in your vonage phone to your laptop. Ultimate in mobile office.

Voip sucks, just get a phone line. The connection is crap and reliability is worse.
Get a phone and use a good PBX system and your good to go.Like the desert needs the rain

hmm, last few times i ordered phone lines through our local phone company (most recent was last week) they were trying to talk me into VoIP. This was 4.5 miles from the CO.Originally posted by chazeVoip sucks, just get a phone line. The connection is crap and reliability is worse.

Again, it's a price-performance decision. I've been using it for years at home and the office. "Crap" and "Worse" apply to a statistically insignificant number of the calls.

that is interesting, it's just the quality of the call sound and reliability of the system. How can it possibly be worth $50 to lose calls and to sound so unpro.Originally posted by 3M TA3hmm, last few times i ordered phone lines through our local phone company (most recent was last week) they were trying to talk me into VoIP. I just don't see it being ready yet for business.
But for calls that don't matter, it might be o.k..Like the desert needs the rain

i dunno if you're missing something, or i am.. but most big businesses/call centers have already switched to voip.. if there is a problem with the sound quality, there is something wrong with your setup. the quality can be better than an analog line if configured properlyOriginally posted by chazethat is interesting, it's just the quality of the call sound and reliability of the system. most medium sized businesses have VoIP. T1s can be split up into fractions to carry voice. I forgot the equation off the top of my head so someone correct me if my numbers are wrong.Originally posted by chazethat is interesting, it's just the quality of the call sound and reliability of the system. 12 channels in a T1 each channel can carry 4 voice lines. each channel equals roughly 128k or 32k per line. therefor for 12 phone lines and internet you would need 3 channels or 384k leaving you with 9 channels for internet or 1116k. That's what they call a frac T.
Full T1 = 1.5
Anytime you make a cross country call or international call you are in fact using VoIP. The voice is digitized and sent via optics then reesembled onces it goes back to copper.

I am friends with a couple ceo's in La and none use Voip, only one person other then me tried it and they said it was terrible. Ans when i tried it it was terrible.
I'm all for better price but at the risk or quality.
Quality is always my first priority.
In fact i don't know any businesses that use Voip in LA.Like the desert needs the rain
