The guy I'm with now grew up in a dysfunctional home his parents were violent, his mom and dad used to throw knives at each other (I heard) and his dad kicked down the door and I think punched the mother in the head till she bled, so perhaps that's why my bf has the views that he does.

I think upbringing has A LOT to do with it.
