Best to put the control station in front of the engine. When something comes loose it goes up down or to the side.
We used a water brake dyno and started the test with full throttle under max load, then you slowly decrease the load and record the info as the rpms climbed until you reach your redline.
The small block circle track engines were the nastiest, we spun them dam near twice as fast as the big blocks.
