    Is the ALT text on pictures worth anything for SEO?

    Will I get a better SE traffic if I put an ALT text on all my pictures?
    I'm just a newbie.

          I do it. A little optimization script I use suggests 3 instances on your page for your specific keyword.

              My opinion is no it wont increase doing ALL the images. However being selective with limited pictures may attract the flys.
              I think the SE's have an ALGO that hates cockroaches, and there is lots of them spamming SE's.

                  it'll help a bit... as will the naming you use for your pics. Just think, people use images.google.com all the time and it searches by the name of the jpg.

                              it depends if you think the peeps surfing google images buy anything, IMHO, if your niche is not saturated already it does help.

                                  Yes it helps. but dont go overboard. Also make sure that the first image that you ALT is using the main keyword/phrase in the alt.
