Hey Zvik I now notice they look a bit similar but a bill is a bill. I have used the $ (and euro) sign for a while now, look at my portfolio for sapphiccash. Its just like you are also fond on the Myriad & futura family fonts, and so am I.
Having that said, your entry also has the half circle pattern like mine + the stats graphic.

Here is my 1st idea:
Colors etc. will be a next step.
I think a logo needs to be as precise and reduced as possible. No need for dollar notes, from cliparts etc. Just pure and simple.
