Half a bottle of Nyquil right before takeoff made a 15 hour LA-Sydney flight MUCH more bearable.
Don't take it until you are ready to board or on the actual plane though unless you want the airport janitors waking your ass up at 3AM long after you missed your flight

I don't know what fun Nyquil is beyond restful... but before you try Robotussin, make sure it's Tussin Maximum Strength Cough and not any other variety. Tussin/Robotussin that is. You can use the DM variety, but it contains an expectorant (Guaifenesin) that's bad for you. The rest contain poisons like acetominophen (think Tylenol) that damage your liver. Either way, you'll probably vomit a bit (red vomit is particularly weird too).
