Russia deploys new set of strategic nuclear missiles

The chief of Russia's strategic forces on Saturday attended the deployment of a new set of state-of-the art intercontinental ballistic missiles, boasting of their capability to penetrate any prospective missile defense, news reports said.
The Topol-M missiles, capable of hitting targets more than 10,000 kilometers (6,000 miles) away, have so far been deployed in silos. The mobile version, mounted on a heavy off-road vehicle, is to enter combat service next year... WHole story here:

FYI: the previous version of this missile/delivery system was designated the SS-22. In the late 80's when the SS-22 program went active, within days of its activation, the entire SS-22 manufacturing facility and all functional units were completely destroyed in a
freak explosion in the former soviet union. Something tells me that a mishap like that is very likely in the near future...
