^ This is a perfect example. If this happened on WHT (webhotingtalk) that hosts and clients reputation is killed forever (unless they show proof otherwise). Plus they have no double standard (like we do) for people that send and host spam.
Although I thought that thread reached ridiculous proportions - I have to say that sometimes the court of public opinion may be the only way to resolve an issue (or at least cast a spotlight on a problem that can't be settled amicably).

I'm thinking in terms of the ongoing iBill situation, as well. Don't get me wrong - I'm NOT comparing SplitInfinity with iBill, of course. But I'm using iBill as an example where many of us have felt that our only recourse or cathartic place to vent against iBill has been here on GFY. When an organization fails to respond to emails and phone calls - short of hiring an attorney (which generally costs a considerable amount)...what else can one do to get the attention of the other person in the issue?

I don't necessarily agree that a person's good reputation is "killed forever", though. Certainly not by a single message thread that gets noticed for a day or two at best. And as you say - someone accused of wrong-doing is always free to provide proof in their own defense to counteract accusations if they're not true.
