    kiva update

    so I found this Kiva site, actually though GFY and I think it was platnuim dave who origionally posted it...

    it's about micro loans to 3rd world ultra poor people starting up businesses to survive.

    anyway, i had donated $150 (plus $20 for fees for something like that) in $25 batches to 6 different people though it.

    i got my password out, hadn't checked it in a LONG time -

    All 6 made a full repayment!

    so i relent out $125 to 5 people this time (put the rest into fees to run Kiva)


    nice to see it actually works..........

          I was reading about this in a magazine a couple weeks ago. I think I read that 99% of the loads are repaid.

                  I've been putting money into Kiva for a while now and never once had a defaulted loan. So far so good.

                  You can set Kiva to send you emails when they repay some or all of your loan.

                          It's pretty cool, I have over 20 loans there with zero defaults. You can keep the money working at helping others instead of the typical donation where its used once and that's it.

                          Also you are selecting the most enterpneurial people on those countries, the ones that get up, raise money, do their biz and pay back creditors much better than trowing money at whole countries.
