The first inhabitants of the Americas were ethnically related the Australian aboriginals and they arrived on our shores 30,000 to 40,000 years ago. Needless to say, they were annihilated by the so-called Native Indians. If anything, the Indians should thank the white man for not wiping them out entirely. I detest the phrase "native american". I was born in America, therefore I am a native american. An american indian is the phrase I like, because I think it is literally accurate.
