, Nov. 23 - The euro rose to another record high against the dollar today after the Russian central bank said it might increase its euro holdings in an effort to insulate itself against further weakness in the American currency.

Like the United States Federal Reserve and its other counterparts, the Russian central bank holds huge reserves of dollars, euros and other currencies as a means of defending its own currency, the ruble, and smoothing out foreign-exchange market movements whenever necessary. Nearly two-thirds of its $113 billion in foreign-exchange and gold reserves are denominated in the dollar, which has reigned for decades as the premier global reserve currency.

Yes.... because if you are:

- a foreign webmaster, your income goes down due to low exchange rate
- a US webmaster, your economy will suffer more due to less investment, so less work ...

i didnt think the dollar could get much worse.. this is really sucking :@

might have to charge in euros soon :D I wonder if surfers will notice the $29.99 ?29.99 shift... could be profitable!

I have been doing that for the past year. Signups were 50/50. Europeans and Japanese ( ? ) mostly signed in Euros, even if it was more expensive ...

Since I replaced Ibill by Paycom, I have to remove the Euro Biller ( VISA USA ...), but I will use them on smaller niche site .

And they never missed a payment, unlike Ibill ....

Oh yea they had to back it by GOLD too.

Do you seriously believe that the Euro is so high because of the ineficiency of the US government?
You are aware that it is China, Japan and Europe who are financing the US deficit?
You also must be aware that France is the #1 investor in US mutual funds?
Or maybe that finance ministers from Europe are trying to no avail to make the value of the dollar rise as they are starting to see the first sign that European companies are starting to lose market share to lower priced US goods.

Whatever your feelings on the US, there is no one who can defeat them, and why would someone want to defeat them anyways? (Besides Islamo fascists that is)

Even if Russia puts a little bit more into the Euro they still have a huge amount of USD in reserve. The dollar will pickup in the next few years again... this is a pretty standard cycle, just emphasized due to GLOBAL instability.
