After a so-so birthday dinner, my brother and I meet up with a couple of my friends at Dave and Busters. After a half hour of boredom, I say what the hell let's go to Hardrock Casino.
We get there just after midnight and start walking around and grab a beer or two. We go inside and my brother tells me that we have to go play some texas hold 'em poker. I'm thinking it's stupid, as it's those little 1-2 dollar tables with $2 max raises.
Well, i'm up about $40 bucks and i tell the dealer this will be my last hand since i figure the $40 i win will pay for the bar tab. This is where the magic starts.
I'm dealt King/Queen suited (clubs). I'm thinking FUCK, i have to play this hand. I bet in and the flop brings Ace of Clubs, 3 of Hearts, and Jack of Clubs. Again, i'm thinking FUCK, i can't lay this down. After a stupid round of $2 dollar bets, the turn comes.......10 of Clubs. I start whispering to my friends behind the railing just watching and telling them to get my other friend cuz i'm about to drop a bomb. Meanwhile, one guy is left in the hand and he's going crazy. The river comes and it's an Ace of Hearts. We both bet to the max and he starts saying i have a feeling this is a bad beat. He's got a full house Aces full of Jacks. I stand up like a jackass and throw down the Royal Flush. Everyone starts going absolutely crazy. There's about 75-100 people surrounding us.
Turns out there's a Bad Beat Jackpot. Tonight it was $105,000.
Everyone at the table (7 people not including myself and the other guy) received $3k cash. I got $500 for the Royal. The loser got $52,000. I was shocked to learn i was getting $31,600 in cash.
So, we had to wait about 5 hours at the casino and fill out a bunch of paperwork, and at around 6:20am i was handed over $30k in cold hard cash along with a police escort home.
