Changing Network Card in (Mandrake) Linux Box

So I got this nice server configured. Old MB and Athlon 800, but should be just fine for a Linux server used for testing and backup.

    Samba
    Ftp
    Apache
    MySQL
    PHP

I am a very happy camper... but network performance sucks....

After excluding a lot of things... I check the NIC and it is 10 MPS

    Dooh!

So I want to switch to a 100.NIC

My doc search and google search tell tons of stuff but not what I want to know....

Anyone been this way before and able to tell me what to do in the hardward config after the switch?

    Thanks

So I decide to just replace the NIC and see what happens.

Auto-detected and a step by step wizard to configure the changes.

In all cases the old settings were there. So I just tabbed a lot.

I am really impressed by those open source developers and Mandrake.

Went from RedHat to Mandrake and I must say Mandrake is a very nice flavor of Linux.

I've put together a few Gentoo boxes over the last few months and I think that will be my next move for my Desktop.

Gentoo seems snappier & I love the package management. Plus this Mandrake box has an app with a memory leak somewhere & I end up having to reboot at least once a week, other than that Mandrake has been good to me.
