I think trust and loyalty have less to do with how one acts, although that is the manifestation - than that they are two of a handful of qualities that define who you ARE.

I have seen and met some brilliant professionals in business and I've met some people who are so inept that I wouldn't trust them with a bag of garbage. These two qualities transcend the type of business that they are in.
Bill Gates for example, I hope that he gives away his fortune down to the last dime, he didn't propel his company honorably, at least that is how it was depicted in Pirates of the Silicon Valley.
I am loyal and trustworthy. Many people confide their secrets with me because they know that I do not pass judgement, nor would I divulge these secrets. I'm not vengeful or angry, just an all around good person who gets ahead by being smart, and good.
