Should you go out of your way to put the hurt on them? Should you let anger get the best of you and retaliate and break a bond of trust that you made to them?

I'm not the kind of person who believes much in the 'retaliation/revenge' theory (though I know many who thoroughly subscribe to it).
For me it all depends on the individual circumstances - if it's a minor breach then I would give that person another try, albeit with much more limitations (to begin with anyways) on how much I'll trust them.
If it's a major breach I will probably just cut them out of my life and say 'good riddance to bad rubbish' and move on (unless I'm given a serious reason not to).
It doesn't need for me to DO anything, just make sure I'm not opening myself up to a world of hurt by being naive.
Then again, if someone I trusted did something unbelievably terrible to my family (like killed my kid or anything of that seriousness) I'm not sure the rules would stay the same.
It's all a matter of degree and circumstance. Even those with the highest moral fibre can crack when people they believe in break those bonds of trust.
