How are they dumbasses? When the buildings are as close as they are there things like that happen....not to mention it was a good choice to use the missle, rather waste $200k then lose men.Comment

Ok, so none of you have ever been in combat.
When you are taking fire from a concealed position, you return fire with EVERYTHING that you have. Why would you want to give a "measured" response and take a chance? How would you know, prior to clearing the position, what the enemy assets are?

I am not 21 and as a former 0352 TOW Missile Operator ( RCT-7 7th Marines T.O.W. Platoon 1991-1993) I can tell you fiscal budgets are never considered when engaging the enemy......Originally posted by OWNED

I am a former M1 Tank Gunner in 3rd platoon, Alpha Co. 1/64 Armor Battalion. There is no question that a tank round would be put in that Iraqi if he only had a slingshot! We never once considered any "cost" , nor was that ever an issue in our training. We just blew shit up, lots of it!SIG TOO BIG! Maximum 120x60 button and no more than 3 text lines of DEFAULT SIZE and COLOR. Unless your sig is for a GFY top banner sponsor, then you may use a 624x80 instead of a 120x60.Comment

And while I'm at it, and I'm certain that mr. 0352 wil concur, the TOW system is not a "safe" weapon to operate - sure it packs a punch, but the poor bastard who just fired it is attached to it, steering the missle via a long cable...
This doesn't seem to be a problem until you consider that as soon as it's fired, all the bad guys yell "Dude! There's a guy with a missle launcher!" (They know this, cuz you just popped a big ol puff of smoke when you fired it ? and they immediately fire back at you - but unlike the asshole with the AK who can duck out of the way, the Marine doing his job for his country has to sit there and take fire until his missle hits ? at which point he might have to shoot another.
For those of us around when the battlefield was expected to be Germany, and the enemy, the Red Army, having the 0352 brand meant a combat life expectancy of around 15 seconds.
