no that is what happens when you are poor. And please do not go into a "first them, then you, it will never stop" because that simply is not how it works. When people talk about wanting to aquire money and power it is not only for ego trips it is to protect themselves from things like this. Being poor is a bad idea, ask anyone from New Orleans who has common sense. Know where most of the FEMA money is going, people who live in well off parts of New Orleans and the northshore area like Mandeville and Covington right outside of Slidell that city that got wiped off the face of the map. The reason is because they want those houses put back up, they want those businesses back in, they do not want blight in the city.

I learned my lesson early. I was at my gf's family beach house one summer. Every hour or so a lifeguard helicopter flew by, it happened everyday I was there. I was on the private beach side of the island. On the other side of the island was the public beach, no helicopters at all, no lifeguards, swim at your own risk. When I got home it was shark week, they gave the location of a bunch of attacks, all within 5 miles of where I was. Coastguard was there looking out for sharks for all of us on the beach while it was sink or swim for the people on the public beaches not very far away. This told me that the rich are looked out for and the poor are on their own, i could either try to change it, or i could work within the system to set myself AND THEN try to change it.

Money and power go together, enough people with enough money and power together are going to be protected by those who do not have as much (their workers/government/business) at the expense of those around them. This is nothing new, so you either take your chances being poor or you get money and power so you do not have to deal with it if you do not want to. Can you show me where the people are not getting market value for their homes and property and just being thrown out on the streets?

This eminent domain thing is gonna piss off the wrong redneck family and theres gonna be a hella gun battle to erupt over this stupid shit... so after a few people are killed maybe then the all knowing god like justices will change thier minds........

Its all getting outta hand... this whole fucking trend of letting each individual city/county government make thier laws is just rediculous... having one thing illegal in Polk county FL and the same thing LEGAL in Orange County FL... and giving each town the ability to ban/control adult businesses and NOW the whole abuse of Eminent Domain... really because i see the common denominator of lower middle class/lower class seperatism, which most lower class people flirt with dangerously all the time. If you can not beat them, join them, in this case what in the hell is the worst thing that could happen to poor people for saying. "Well shit, I think I need to end whatever habits are keeping me in this situation, ie drugs, alchahol, multiple children, gambling, stupid purchases and get on the good foot so that the powerful can not take my shit" and yes it IS that easy and it can and is being done everyday, each day this happens someone will open their eyes and get their shit straight and get out of the hood or the trailor park.

If the poor were better using their land they would be more productive communities and the masses would help them fight against those "evil" corporate monsters IF they were going to even try to do something like this. This is a trickle down economy, big business is going to use the land to make more products to make more money for people to buy to put the money back at the top. If those people were making themselves more productive in life, like most of us here, they would be working with those companies and be left alone, as it is they are only buying some products occasionally so why would the giant care about the anthill if he can build a home on it?

I find it interesting that you blame the Supreme Court.. It's the government that passed the laws that made this possible, not the Supreme Court. If the law(s) were cut and dry and did not conflict with the constitution and/or bill of rights, issues like this would never even get to the Supreme Court...

I understand what you are saying Jade. The only Caveat is that there are well educated poor people, smart as nails. Going out and getting rich is not a day and night thing. Poor people do not set out to be poort they all want to be rich, and the sad fact is they are never going to be rich. Thats just the way it is.

Abilities financially others do not have.

Ya got money ya can open a company, hire people, and kick back and still make money. The Poor do not have those options, most never will. Some will spend thier entire lives trying to do something as simple as open a small shop.
All the while one with money from Family, Inheritance can do it faster and easier once the decsision is made to do it.


I will use myself as a perfect example. I am not rich, I am not middle class. I am nearly poor. I make a little money in the biz and save all I can, but it really is not shit.
I managed to open a company sure, but I sure as hell got a long ways to go.

Oh lets say I did have money.

Simple I open shop hire 5 designers set up a manager and buy advertising. Voila done money. 5 times the output and a steady stream of clients through advertising and watching pretty designs being made.

I know plenty of guys in this very biz have done EXACTLY that!

Not really...the Supreme Court...simply chose to expand upon imminent domain...which is a part of the constitution.

But they only did that because the government wanted them to and it didn't violate the Constitution and other current laws. If the government didn't want the expanded imminent domain than it never would have gone before the Supreme Court.

What is "fair market value"? If I own a piece of property, expect the value to rise, and want to hold on to it because of that, is the only value it has the current value? If this guy had been forced to sell his home 20 years ago for "fair market value", he would have been screwed out of quite a bit of money.

Fair market value only has meaning within a free market, where transactions are free rather than forced.

Which government are you speaking about...local...county...state...or federal? Can you site the government case that brought it before the Supreme Court?

Does it really matter which level of "government"? The fact is that any level of government can use it to take away peoples properties.. And you're right, the government didn't take it to the court.. They already have the ability to do it and it's the fucked over individuals that have taken it to the court to try and get it ruled as illegal.
