Why not just empty it then right-click on the IE toolbar and uncheck Links. Empty and hidden is as good as gone

To hide it from the Favorites folder:

              1. Click Favorites on the toolbar.
              2. Right-click the Links folder, and then click Properties.
              3. Click to select the Hidden check box.
              4. Click OK.

And if you really want to remove it rather than hide it, it can be done in the Registry:

play Joe Cocker's 'you can leave your hat on' while looking at Juicy's sig banner, he is moving perfectly to the rhythm.

Nah, it's not a virus issue.
                        SYMPTOMS

If you attempt to move, delete, or rename the Links folder on the Favorites menu in Internet Explorer, it is automatically re-created the next time you start your computer.

                        CAUSE

This behavior occurs because the Links folder is a special Internet Explorer folder that cannot be moved, deleted, or renamed.

                            Yer welcome!

Actually I find the Links folder kinda useful. I went into it and created some subfolders (like music, my sites, newsgroups [Google pages for those my ISP doesn't carry], etc. and the links I use most are directly in the Links folder rather than a subfolder. I then slid Links all the way over to the right edge of my IE toolbar so it takes up only the space of the word "Links". When I click the arrow to expand it the subfolders expand out like the Favorites folder, giving me quick access to my very most used pages.
