I don't mind giving out short term passwords to potential affiliates or access for affiliates who actually make an effort
what I get tired of is being begged for a password (god forbid, it should take me a few minutes to set it up) and the affiliate doesn't even make an effort...
I'll also not issue a password to someone who hasn't even bothered to signup for the program...
make an effort and I will too..make it worth both our time...

I think the thing you should remember is that affiliates have so many programs to choose from, the big webmasters do their homework on the programs they send their traffic to. I personally want to know what the inside of the member's area looks like so I don't mislead/fraud my surfers. I want to know if the members area will retain members or after 2 days the member will cancel because there simply is nothing left to look at.

I think it's an absolute necessity to give access to potential affiliates, I would suggest you just make up a 24 hour temporary pass for them so they can come in and check out the members area. But not have lifetime access (unless they send alot of sales).

If I was turned down for access I would honestly just move on to the next program on my list to research.

I only read half of this - but not giving potential affiliates a free look at the goods is shooting yourself in the foot. If I was looking to pick up 10 new sites to promote, I may go through 100 until I find the 10 I want. I'm not going to buy a membership to 100 sites only have pissed away my money.

If a sponsor wouldn't give me at least temporary access, I would start to wonder why, specifically if its a recurring program. Then I would probably conclude that they don't want or don't deserve my traffic, so I would simply move on to a sponsor who does want my traffic.

I've been ready over this thread and.....

I'm new as you know, I'm a partner with the site http://www.holeshotgirls.com
And we are trying to get it into an affiliate program or revshares or we were also thinking of setting up an affiliate program through Ccbill. Well you guys are on the topic of affiliate programs. Whats a guy got to do to get reconized? And whats the Best steps to do to get your site out there?

I know this is considered tricks of the trade, but being a videographer and editor and putting out a shit load of content over the past year for some of the top companies by working under some of the best behind the scenes I want out and into to the bigger picture.

Mr.Ocean - if you don't know by now: there is no money left in porn

(j/k - start by finding someone who is "established" and buying them some drinks...then pick their brain bit by bit for the heavily guarded secrets. If this doesn't work, hire some hot chicks to follow you around and make it look like you know what you're doing )

I usually buy a membership first toosee how it looks like but once a program owner just suspended my webmaster account as I signed up under my own ref :/

So now I always ask for access to member's area first and if they don't want, I buy one with my ref code if they don't mind
