Getting Quality Backlinks these days...

Hey there.

Been doing Mainstream and Adult SEO for a while now. Hardly an expert, but I've managed to secure some decent placements over the years.

Firing up some new matrixes, and am finding it difficlult to get some decent backlinks this go around. Like I said, I've got some experience and I can usually get the spots I'm looking for - I'm aware of how important good inbounds are.

What these guys with 400 outgoings off their page that shows a half dozen inbounds don't seem to realize is that their link isn't really worth crap, espcially when it's buried at the bottom of the page in 8px text. Minimal traffic, and very little weight.

Here's an email I sent off to a fellow who 'shot me down'....lol.

Response:

I've been doing mainstream and adult SE optimization for several years
now. I have hundreds of very good keywords that sit on the first page of
yahoo, msn, and google, with many #1 listings.

Your logic is somewhat correct, but still flawed.

Most of your niche category pages have several hundred outgoing links, be
it paysites, galleries, or links to other free sites. I am of the opinion
that regardless of how many visitors you may have, the odds of getting
decent traffic off a small text link at the bottom of the page is minimal.

The relevancy or 'weight' of these type of backlinks is minimized also -
every link outwards diminishes the value of the page as a whole.

Now, you may argue that a 'links' page link is of no value. I can assure
you, your site will receive more of a PR boost and I dare say more traffic
off this than a small text link off a page with hundreds of outgoings. We
place a 'proven' minimum of outgoing links on all links pages so that each
specific link is of value.

The sites that were sent to you each harvest very targetted and high
quality SE traffic. The links page is also linked to off of the index
page, resulting in just as much 'weight' as your category pages, but
without the hundreds of outgoings on each page.

Sorry for the long winded response, but there is so much confusion out
there as to what constitutes a good quality link.

If you're still interested, I'd be happy to do the trade with your Urls.
If not, hopefully I've gave you a little food for thought when considering
link exchanges.

Take care,
