    are Gateway laptops decent?

    theres one at Best Buy today for $500 bucks, i have to go return/replace headphones that broke last night anyways, might pick the lappy up while im there..decent specs, nothing great though;

    15" screen
    256
    40 gig
    cd-rw/dvd

    reg price: $730

      shit for 700 you can get a really nice dell from their outlet store. I think theres a reason why there are no more gateway retail stores

              How much are you willing to spend, 256mb of memory is useless, I have 4 gigs in this computer

                  I have a 3 year old gateway laptop with 2ghz, 512mb, 80gig ...

                  Although I've had to send it in twice over the years, it is still my "main" computer to this day, and it's a workhorse.

                  Those specs won't last you long though, I'd get one custom built
