just fyi, blowing a reactor up wouldnt do much, it would be locally contained fallout > it's when the reactor melts down that you have a 50 mile radius of death and the generations of aftermath from the widespread fallout. (my MOS in the marines was nuclear, biological, and chemical weapons specialist )

I really thought the Iranians where getting away from this hardline shit - the 'normal' people in the general population seem to be embracing western culture.

Id like to think that common sense would kick in and Iran would see that having nukes one day is not the same as having them now (as Israel does) and STFU. This new Iranian president seems a little lacking in the common sense dept. though.

Second - until the plants actually started operation there would be no "fallout" even if the "fuel was charged" (the fuel comes in huge bundles that are around 60 ft high and 12 inches diameter) - and the correct term would be loaded into the reactor - but until the reactor is run the fuel is not very radioactive - less than whats naturally in your drinking water.

Third - if the plants actually operated (which is highly unlikely given the US and Israeli stands) even direct hits on the plants would not cause a spread of radioactivity like experienced with Chernobyl - the fuel is encased in so many barriers that are covered with missile shields nowadays (unlike the Chernobyl plant) that a release of bare fuel is almost impossible - plus the US and Israel would have much easier access to the control systems that would put them out of business quicker and wouldnt need to tempt fate going after the fuel assemblies.
