Actually it's not SUPPOSED too. Too bad my country if full of ingorant lazy people. "Oh I'm too lazy too raise my kids. I wish the government would do it" Bible thumper want prayer and religion in public school because when it comes down to it, they are too lazy too even take their kids to Sunday school to teach them the Bible themselves. How fucked up is that?

My 9 year old has never accessed a porn site and he's been on the net for 4 years now. Hmmmm must be luck.

I really can't believe how oblivious you all are. Total denial. Porn is the dirty habit people don't want their friends and neighbors to know about. Porn is looked down upon.
I have this one friend that is often broke and has borrowed money so he could make it to the next paycheck so he could buy food for his family. Funny he always has money for cigarettes.

My ex brother in law is often broke and my niece and nephew do without because he has a riverboat casino nearby he blows most of his money on.

If Bush tells the Senate and says "I want an anti-porn bill" you can be god damned sure the republican controlled senate will come up with one.

          Sly,

I agree with you re: kids seeing porn. I have a daughter.

However, I think it's important to view the issue in it's true context. Those railing against porn are not simply about the issue of kid's access to it. They are railing against porn as a whole.

Children are simply what makes it palatable to a more liberal audience. Kind of like partial birth abortions are to the subject of abortion in general. The broader agenda is always a general curtailment of porn for everyone.

When I look at the entire context of this type of thing, I have to think hard about where I throw my support. Unfortunately, these groups thus far can't be trusted to address simply the issue of children's access to pornography. Their broader agenda is far more pervasive, and carries with it the danger of general censorship.

Yep, you're right. They both have hearings and trials too. So do guns. So do drugs.

What's your point? Is skirting the issue the only thing you know how to do?

Most people in the world are sick of George Bush fucking things up and taking away people's rights, so no one much cares what you're "tired of hearing". No wonder you have a new job every 6 months, you have no fucking clue what you're talking about.

                          The problem is:

Ofcourse Kids should not have access to Porn at internet.

BUT, it wont change anything if, let say, all US sites are down. There are enough sites that are not hosted in the US or owned form an american.

I think installing an "Anti Porn Software" (or something like that) on the PC the Kid is using (while i ask myself, why are kids on a pc and not playing outside?!) would be the better solution.

                          In other words:

Parents have to take care of what the Kids are doing.

                            A) I haven't thrown a hissy fit. I'm stating my opinion. I live in America I can still do that. Sorry that FREEDOM bothers you.

                            B) I am NORMAL. So I sell porn. Guess what so does my cable company. Playboy, Spice Spice 2, Hot Network. Hmmmmm. Most so called "normal" people look at porn. They are just too ashamed to admit it. That's because of Jesus freaks try to shame them and they should just have the balls to tell them to fuck off and mid ther own business.

                            C) Fuck off you self-lothing, abnormal, child abusing, family ruining pornographer

You're skirting right now. Are you really this dense?

The topic at hand is porn. Not drugs. Not cigarettes. Not gambling.

Do you plan on going to your congressmen and say "there are much worse things than porn, drop your attacks on porn and go after cigarettes!" Those are totally separate issues.

When one issue is the topic at hand and you try to move the flow of conversation to another topic, thats skirting.

Sorry if I took words out of your mouth. Perhaps your response wasn't the best to quote to make my point. I do think my post was germane to this thread in general, but it wasn't meant as an attack on you in any way.

You are correct - dealers in 'adult' will always be second class citizens. To both Republicans and Democrats alike. Whether actually or simply vocally, people look down on pornographers in any country that has it's roots in religion. It's visceral. People who don't go to Church, for example, will say they believe in God even if they are truthfully ambiguous, because they feel like they SHOULD believe in God.

Similarly, people feel that they SHOULD think porn is bad, or feel bad about viewing it or wanting to view it. All it takes is a good PR campaign. Look at smoking. Years of very good PR campaigns are creating a general atmosphere where smokers are thought of as somewhat unwholesome.

And that's just years. The PR campaign against sex has been running in this country since it's inception.

Because the brilliance of their advertising embarrasses the ignorance of the majority of voters. They're great at talking and naming things, and playing the media. Seeing as you're in advertising, you realize that the majority of people are sheep and eat up good advertising, no matter what it's selling. This is the reason why stupid people vote for Bush, they've been sold.

The majority of people in the western world are not "conservative", they've been sold the idea that they are. The radical conservatives have blurred the lines between liberalism and conservatism, and somehow made the word liberal negative. America was founded on liberal ideas, and every great social advancement has come because social conservatism LOST. Social conservatism is a sickness, people who look to restrict the rights of people they don't agree with or understand are not functional members of our great free society that social liberalism has built. The taliban is what happens when social conservatism mixed with religious fundamentalism goes unchecked.

We in the western world tend to take the freedoms social liberalism has won us for granted. The end of slavery, legalized divorce, women voting, equal rights for minorities, separation of church and state, birth control, and oh yeah, what's that other thing, democracy.

I have a feeling those in America who forget these things are going to remember them soon enough.

Well the software I use for virus, anti-spyware, firewall has parental controlls and my 9 uear old had to ask me permission before he could even get on CartoonNetwork.com among other sites you think are kid friendly because of the settings I had. Yes it was a pain to have to keep seeing what he wanted to have access to and give him permission on such obvious sites, but hey so I took a few minutes out of my life to protect my kid. Big fucking deal.

When my kid wants to rent a PS2 game I always go withhim and if it has an M I say no, if it has a T I have to really look at it to see if I can tell WHY it has a T. If it's for cartoon type vilonce then I might OK it. If it's more real or has sexual overtones then no he doesn't rent it. I'm surprised by what some parents let their kids play. See I am the parent. Not the government or the church.

Whatever the case may be it doesn't change the fact that Bush and his gang of social conservatives are a huge threat to this (and every progressive) industry. The fact that you're tired of hearing it wouldn't come in to play if you had any real stake in this business, unless you're completely fucking dense.

most likely would not have been brought up because i believe a liberal president would have vetoed it. anda liberal senate wouldn't have had much interest in the matter. the house obviously has the least pull out of the three. so i suppose i shall restate that as one of the two bodies. since they seemed to bypass the house and pick this right up in the senate.

Now this is a good post!

You didn't attack me in any way. I was simply trying to make the point that I haven't been posting my personal beliefs, just observations and thoughts as to how the general public sees things.

I'm not ashamed of anything I do at all or I wouldn't do it, but I'm also not blind to the fact that pornographers are looked down upon by society in general. I think the religious get a little too much flack for this. Yes, of course they do lookdown upon porn but it doesn't stop there by any means.

Would you like the parents of your childrens friends to know about your lifestyle and occupation? Odds are you wouldn't. I know that I wouldn't.

Part of the evil stigma surrounding porn comes from child porn, rape, abused women, etc. All of those things often times get associated with porn.

Whatever the case may be it doesn't change the fact that Bush and his gang of social conservatives are a huge threat to this (and every progressive) industry. The fact that you're tired of hearing it wouldn't come in to play if you had any real stake in this business, unless you're completely fucking dense.

I dont whore anything. I traded some work for my sig spot this month. And I had AAC in there because it made me over $3k a month in referrals.

I dont have any real stake in the porn business. I have a real stake a ton of internet businesses. And guess what? I DONT WANT TO HEAR ABOUT GEORGE BUSH AND HOW TERRIBLE HE IS. WHY? BECAUSE IT WONT CHANGE A GODDAMN MOTHERFUCKING THING! THATS WHY!

Now, why do you like to bitch about George Bush? Problems in your home life?

no kid under 14 should be allowed online alone without a parent present in the room and from a viewable angle of the monitor. Parents are just lazy and want the goverment and mtv to raise thier kids. Alot of the worlds problems could decrease drastically if parents just learned how to use a bealth on the ass.

Guess he figured by that age I was going to be how I was going to be. And actually its kind of funny because I ended up policing myself. I knew what I was and wasn't allowed to watch/say as a kid.
Well I do explain WHY to my kid which I think is important. Telling a kid NO without explaination is pointless because the whole point is having your kid understand why it's not right to watch this or play that.

Funny thing is my kid NEVER swears. I mean never. I have never had to punish him for swearing. I swear like sailor. Hell I even let him watch South Park with me( and no that doesn't make me a hypocrite. He watches it WITH me ). He knows it's not right and doesn't do it.

Cool - no harm, no foul.

Yes, I'm aware of the 'general consensus'. Perhaps it would sound strange to some, but knowing what the 'general view' of pornographers is made my being in the adult industry the last reason I voted against Bush.

I didn't vote as I did because I'm in the industry. The truth is, we have no representation regardless of who is in office, and probably never will. In countries where porn is more mainstream and less regulated by a puritan society, there is still no real representation, and someone who fucks on film or films fucking is not likely to be invited to parties hosted by politicians.

Just as a point of debate, Sly, I think the Religious Right gets the most flack EVEN THOUGH the problem is more societal because they are the ones who are most in the forefront lobbying for legislation of various points of morality.

My daughter is 16, and we're very aware of her internet viewing habits. We're also aware, from her telling us at various times, of the type of stuff her peers are exposed to. We live in a fairly conservative area, and I have always thought it was ironic that parents who work in the adult industry (us) seem to be doing a better job of regulating their child's access to Adult than many of the conservatives surrounding us. Not to mention that she doesn't do drugs, and will be the first female in three generations of her family to complete High School and go to college.

And yet, we are Liberal Pornographers. Just shows the practical value of labels.

"We're so afraid to talk about sex in our society that we really give carte blanche to the people who are producing this kind of material," said James B. Weaver, a Virginia Tech professor who studies the impact of pornography.

Internet pornography is corrupting children and hooking adults into an addiction that threatens their jobs and families, a panel of anti-porn advocates told the hearing organized by Sen. Sam Brownback, R-Kan., chairman of the Commerce subcommittee on science.

Brownback, a father of five, said when he was a boy, the typical kid's exposure was limited to occasional peeks at dirty magazines illicitly obtained by a buddy.

Now, he said, pornography seems pervasive. Children run across it while researching homework on the Internet. Vulgar ads arrive unexpectedly by e-mail. Some of his middle-age male friends limit their time alone in hotel rooms to avoid the temptation of graphic pay-per-view movies, Brownback said.

Mary Anne Layden, co-director of a sexual trauma program at the University of Pennsylvania, said pornography's effect on the brain mirrors addiction to heroin or crack cocaine. She told of one patient, a business executive, who arrived at his office at 9 a.m. each day, logged onto Internet porn sites, and didn't log off until 5 p.m.

Layden called for billboards and bus ads warning people to avoid pornography, strip clubs and prostitutes.

The panel discussion ranged from hardcore, violent pornography to audience complaints about a sexually suggestive promo that aired prior to this week's "Monday Night Football" game.

Brownback, an outspoken Christian conservative who has championed efforts to curb indecency on television and the Internet, said the public is beginning to realize "they don't just have to take it."

But he acknowledged the First Amendment right to free speech has limited congressional efforts.

In June, the Supreme Court blocked a law designed to shield Web-surfing children from pornography, ruling that requiring adults to register or use access codes before viewing objectionable material would infringe on their rights.

Brownback said scientific data is needed to help his cause.

But he pointed to studies that show prolonged use of pornography leads to "sexual callousness, the erosion of family values and diminished sexual satisfaction."

If parents don't like it, they can turn off the internet or do their fucking jobs and monitor their kids or use any of the readily availble software to limit what their kids see.

The idea that HBO is responsible for making sure kids don't watch shows on their channel - a channel made for adults - is just as stupid as saying that webmasters making sites for adults are responsible for making sure those kids don't reach the sites.

Of course webmasters try to help parents by giving them access to tools, but webmasters cannot raise people's children for them. Webmasters who label their sites with the content rating services are giving parents every tool they need to limit what their kids watch. If a parent don't watch out for their own kids, what kind of parents are they?

Your trying to argue in America because you do not like reading about Bush that you want everybody else to shut up about it so as to no longer inconvience you?

But I think the visual stimulation of porn is just as addictive. I don't think it does damage like they are saying here, but just looking at porn does stimulate pheronomes as well.
