NHL Strike is over!

I fucking wish.

The players agents are meeting with the union head today.
My guess is that the players are having problems keeping up their accustomed lifestyles without a regular paycheque.

Hopefully we can get the season underway by January.

I would not say ALL the players. Just the ones who feel they should be making as much as the next highest paid guy on their team that they consider to be better than.

The richest ones don't care at all.

The richest ones don't care at all.

Well of course it's not everyone, but they need to realize that making a lil bit less will help the entire league. If they worked on there personal skills many of them could land endorsment deals, or they can invest the money better and get a better return on the money. If you are making 8 million a year, big deal if you have to make 6 now. You are still making millions doing what you love to do.

I want hockey back sooooooo bad

last year I moved to Canada and watched hockey for the first time ( actually paying attention) and I loved it

The leafs rocked it was fun being in a city with a playoffs team

and then they had to go on strike just when I was really getting into it

Airline pilots took a paycut to ensure they'd keep their jobs... most of the high level execs last year took a 20% paycut... according to TIme... so why in the fuck do pro athletes think they're any better... especially for a struggling sport? It's not as profitable as anyoen thinks you know... they don't sell much merchandise in the US and they don't sell out... and TV time is limited... In Canada I can understand them making money... but not in the US where we have Basaketball Baseball and footblall and I read a report saying that poker was watched more than hockey... go figure

Fuckem I already got my Red Wings season ticket money back.

The Redwings have most of the highest paid players in the league. They also have by far the most porfitable club. I can see a teacher or airline pilot asking for more money. They deserve it. Its bullshit when you are making 200k a game or more to be whining over a pay raise and benifits. Damn

I have no sympathy for those fucks.

Golf players make millions....

Basketball and baseball contracts are 5-10x what a football player makes...

And last the poor Hockey players that loose teeth like I loose change get less pay than all of the above...

I think Hockey and Football players are getting the shaft!

It has little to do with the physical nature of it, as it does who else can make a dime off their play.

Golfers make more in endorsements than for actually playing

Top Basketball players make more from shoe deals then playing

MLB and the NFL have outrageous TV contracts (or their own networks) that are paying their salaries

Hockey gets shit because they draw shit. Everything that makes hockey exciting to watch is bad for tv because they don't want to show fighting, and there's too much non-stop action for commercials, and lets face it the average person doesn't run out and buy hockey equipment n a regular basis like basketball shoes. It's all about who else can make a buck off the game, and hockey hasn't figured out a way to do that yet. Maybe they're all just too dumb.....Like me, who keeps renewing my NY Rangers season tickets

I knew this thread was too good to be true Thanx to the rangers, leafs, red wings, stars, for overpaying your players and throwing the salaries out of whack...you'll pay in the end though when you have to cut payroll in half and all the big names on the leafs retire by the time hockey it back.

LMFAO YES! A bunch of grown men singing Culture Club's 'Do you really want to hurt me' is almost priceless! The best commercial of the year I'd say and Molson isn't even the main sponsor anymore - however, I bet they are losing mad money over this strike!
