I've always kept the progressive mode set to Off on my VX-2000 and I've never experimented with it since I read that the video wouldn't look smooth.Comment

Nope, video doesn't look choppy at all. I've never had one person notice anything "wrong" with the videos, and I've been shooting in Progressive mode since 1998 (with the TRV900 before I got my VX2100). I've got the VX2000 and I've done a little experimentation shooting in diffierent modes. As much as I love the Sony products I wish they'd come out with a camera with a higher frame rate in progressive scan mode. The screen caps in progressive scan do look incredible and 15FPS is fine for web based video. However, if you try to cut a video (VHS or DVD) to be watched on a television it has a very bizarre effect (I guess you could say it's kinda jerky).Originally posted by Tat2Jr
