You, or any of use for that matter, can really say what is wrong with his actions. He can be judged by the UCMJ by his commanders who have a better understanding of the situation that may have mitigated his actions.

Turkey, ONW, Operation Northern Watch, patrolling the northern no fly zone over Iraq. Saddam was sending out SAM sites most every day. So, yes, there was combat going on and I was being shot at.
