                                                I get my 'weird ideas' from my own experiences in combat.

                                                Small units, or squad sized groups of soldiers just dont take prisoners. Prisoners have to be properly processed and guarded. These guys clearly do not have time for that. War is not about convenience. And regardless if Iraq didnt declare war, war is what it going on. Did you miss the reports of all the dead soldiers being flown home over the past year?
                                                I am not making any judgements - I was actually granted the sense of sight and use it, - with some balance and rationality of the background in which this took place.

                                                Basically we have a young asshole who has a gun and thinks he can "do anything". Just listen hard to the "verbal" of any group of soliders and you will hear exactly how they will behave under stress.

                                                Since you claim to have been in the military, you should know very well what the general standard of these soldiers is. They are often, as has been said earlier, "kids". They have no clue about fuck all - why should they? On occasion they are often very stupid kids with nada judgement - these are the people the US Admin sends to fight their wars based on lies.

                                                They should not even be near Iraq - but doing something useful with their lives.

                                                The fact that you have served in this military says much and explains your attitude.

                                                Your apparently disregard for prisoners is much as expected and matches the relatively low average quality of US military personnel. Basically solider - keep the fuck outta places you are unable to control and backup with proper safeguards.

                                                One would think that there would be a vague hope ya could, at least, get that bit right - but looks not to be the case.

                                                Did I miss the reports of "all the dead soliders"? No, I am aware, tho never saw much of them being treated too well - but plenty "non photographs" to dull down the US population.

                                                It is a pity ya can't acknowledge reality and have to hide the dead who were the consquence of this mythical war the US Admin decided to embark on.

                                                I'd also mention the many thousands more who died, - you're only concern seems to be with relatively few US soldiers.

                                                Why is the only concern about US soldiers when the US has been the main instigator of "wars" lately where *many* more innocent people have been killed or maimed? Are people in the US that selfish and brainwashed?

                                                Your earlier statement made plenty assumptions about "the way it is", tho not based on any story published so far or anything captured on video. I stand with the reply I gave, - your post was just utter crap and assumption.

                                                    Actually in a longer version of the incident shown on CNN tonight I noticed that when entering the area the Marines asked two questions:

                                                    (1) Had the people inside had been shot?
                                                    answered: Yes.

                                                    (2) Had they been unarmed?
                                                    unanswered. (or at least inaudible)

                                                    This could be an example of "the fog of war" spoken about, it would seem that the Marine may have believed the prisoners were freshly captured having been shot, and had not been frisked for arms.

                                                    No excuses, however I have never seen War, nor my friends killed, or felt the confusion War zones cause, I find it hard to believe a soldier, American or otherwise would execute a person on film unless they felt it was justifiable force.

They are civilians and apparently do not understand what constitutes taking someone as a POW...and in addition it makes there story more "explotive" when they make the claim that a POW was shot. I have not at any point in time indicated that I approve of what the shooter did...but I am satisfied that I know why he did it...and I know that it is not uncommon...and is ordinarily overlooked. I also know that small units do not ordinarily take prisoners at all unless ordered to do so.

Small units do not have the manpower to take prisoners...and mission is usually more important than lives.
