They went tits up for awhile and some enterprising lot bought the whole show for something close to .10 on the dollar out of bankruptcy court. This really fucked up Motorola for a few years as they were a majority shareholder with Iridium.

Excellent idea, piss-poor marketing. Their marketing department wouldn't give you the time of day unless you were with BP-Oil or wanted to buy 100 of their satellite phones at a shot.

Its great technology, but if you are bouncing around in the Sandbox, you want to buy a Thurara as they are basically the same for airtime, but considerably smaller to lug around.

Yes "iridium" was a company launched by Motorola offering global satellite mobile service. They had an amazing concept but pretty much launched at the wrong time; a time when landbased cellular networks were all over the place, with good roaming, decreasing prices and small handsets... They pretty much missed the boat on that one. The combany went bankrupt and then changed hands a few times. They still offer the service but its now much more low-key and targeted to a micro niche of users rather than the originally hyped "global business users"...

Going back to Moto, which had been lagging in the mobile market, they are now coming back in the mobile phone market with an amazing lineup of products like the V3/Razr, the quad-band A780, the 3g A1000 and some over the edge phones like the MPx coming soon...

My favorite unreleased toy of the moment is definately the A668 with finger writing recognition ;)

RE adultcontentstore.com, I have no idea how this dropped from my enom account so I'm going to have to do a little research. Its a name I had acquired this summer but its possible I missed a close renewal...
Anyhow, given that I no longer hold this domain the name is obviously not-for-sale Thank you for pointing this out and sorry for any confusion!
