    SE gurus, a question about a possible banned domain

    one of my small sites appears to have been banned.

    there is no blackhat shit going on with it, so what are some possible reasons as to why it was banned?

    i noticed i had an htaccess issue with the site and i have corrected it, but is it possible for that to have any ill effect?

    will any of the outgoing links from this domain be negatively affected? and will any sites with links going back to this domain be affected?

    also, is it possible to get that domain unbanned?

    thanks ahead of time, and i will reward you with hugs and kisses in vegas for any helpful info on this.

      You don't seem sure if it's banned, so do this search:
      http://www.google.ca/search?hl=en&q=DOMAIN.COM&meta=

      If its not banned, you should get a line that looks something like this: If the URL is valid, try visiting that web page by clicking on the following link: DOMAIN.com

      If you don't get that then it likely (but not necessarily) banned.

          As for some reasons it may have gotten banned, well, there's quite a few. Since you said there was no blackhat going on, I'm going to rule out on-site SEO (ie: hidden text, small text, overstuffing keywords, etc...). You may have gotten links from known banner farms, you may have had excessive links from guestbooks, refspams, blogs, etc... But chances are you're not banned. From the way you described it, you had an htaccess problem and its more than likely bots weren't able to hit your site. That's the impression I got. Do what I suggested in the first post and then I can help you out further. Posting the url would help as well.

              Lastly it is possible to get unbanned but expect to wait several months. It's easier to get a new domain and start from scratch in a lot of cases.

                                  also i will hug all that post in this thread in a platonic fashion in vegas do not fear.

                                  its all good, this wasnt one of my more important domains, and i was surprised that it wasnt showing. i do the same SE practices across all my sites so i have narrowed it down to just the htaccess issue because that only pertained to this site
