what happens if you done pay back cash advances?

if it's a title loan they reposess your car/house/whatever the title is for. not sure on any other types of advances. i would bet they could arrest you for theft or fraud or something similar

they won't arrest him, and they won't reposess anything... not for $500.

they'll sic the collection agencies on him, who will harass him and his family day and night with idle threats. eventually, if unpaid, the debt will be treated as a write-off which will really harm your buddy's credit rating.

if he doesn't pay it back, it's gonna severly hinder his chances of getting a car, credit card, bank account, /oan, house, etc in the next 5-10 years. it'll also probably hurt him if he tries to get a job or rent an appartment.

for $500, it's not worth it.

if its a cash advance / check advance type place... they will definately go after him as far as they can, they are ruthless

yeah, that's a totally different story. to me, a cash advance is a cash withdrawal from a credit card. i've been conditioned.

makes more sense if he's talking about taking it from a check/cash advance place.
