What's the purpose of your visit?
How much money are you bringing into the country?

Charged? Ever? Are they looking for honesty or angels?
If you've ever been charged with a crime (and haven't gotten a pardon), then you're not getting into the US and vice versa. Even a simple thing like a DUI will get you blacklisted if immigration finds out.

By charged, they don't mean convicted, just accused? Or do you mean convictions?
What if I say no, and they find out otherwise? Do they ask everyone? Do they fly you back to where you came from?
yeah i know the rapid fire shit they ask catches you offgaurd
they do that to see if you stutter...
also never say "huh?" or "what?" to one of their questions that you and him both know you clearly heard.. thats a sign you are buying time to make up a lie... common habbit

I meant convicted (ie: if you have a criminal record).
If they find out, you'd be denied entry and blacklisted from re-entry (from my understanding). The airline you flew on is responsible for your deportation costs. They don't ask everyone, in fact its rather rare they ask, I've only been asked once in the last 3 years or so.

Well, you look more suspicious than me, so I should be good to go.
I'd stick with saying Vacation, christmas shopping and visiting friends, you don't want them to think you're working or on a business trip, they like to see you spending money and will sometimes ask how much money you have on you to check against your length of stay.
when i came back from my trip to cozumel and grand cayman they pulled me aside and were asking me all sorts of prodding questions. i was like WTF is wrong with you guys? you can let them know that they are going to far. ask them why they are stereotyoing you. i did. i accused them of profiling me because i had a goatee and was singing in the waiting line
turn the conversation on them. instead of being defensive, be offensive. they got me out of their hair as soon as possible. those checkpoints are there to screen people, not interrogate guilty citizens. those guys do the same thing all year long every day of their lives. they hate that duty.
when i go through customs i always make it a point to never act like i want to pass their test. 99% of the people go up to them expecting a quiz that they want to pass just like in high school. if you want to get through their shit asap, just act like they are an inconvenience to you and like you could give a lesser shit what they ask and they won't even give a shit about you. if you show any fear or concern about what they are asking they will dig and dig and try to find shit to fuck with you.
I was going to say change that fucked up long name of yours ...but then i remembered that on the way back from LA i was talking to a guy while waiting for extra screening ..(I get flagged every time ... not sure why) and he said he gets flagged every time also and he travels a lot ...so e asked his attorney and they called the airline ... they told him that his name was so common that the system automatically stops him ... his name was John Smith ... now that sucks .....lol

haha, travelling INTO another country I might agree.
Coming HOME from another I have to disagree.
Last flight home from Florida, my ears popped really bad and I couldn't hear a goddamn thing the Canadian Customs agent said to me. I could see his lips move, and I just said, "I'm sorry man, but I can't hear a word you're saying." He asked me a couple trivial questions and let me go.
The first time in a LONG time they didn't scour my bags for show goodies.
