Wow, they just bite their heads off. I would hate to be near a nest of giant hornets. When I was a kid I set a wasp nest on fire once. They attacked me and they ended up in my hair so I smacked my own head as hard as I could
When I washed my hair at nice I had 7-8 dead wasp wash out of my hair.
Lucky as hell I never got stung...........

I saw a program on hte National Geographic channel about the Giant Hornets that hang out in Japan and its islands. They are around 2 1/2 inches long armour shelled and hate everything that moves.
