Wow, Fox News really IS a government tool, isn't it?

Just sitting here listening to the morning anchor talk to a guest and they were talking about the insurgency leadership leaving prior to the assault and how it really wouldn't matter because what good is leaders without foillowers and how Fallujah was such a success.

Have we heard about 20,000 of them being either killed or captured? No. But we sure heard that number prior to the invasion. I'll have to find the article (it didn't come from a US media source, of course) that says prior to the invasion the leadership told their troops that the ones who wanted to live to fight another day should come with them and those that wished to become martyrs in this battle should stay and fight. What we have seen is small pockets of resistance. Nowhere near thousands, let alone 20,000.

While sheep who believe only the US media is correct are celebrating the "victory" in Fallujah, we shall soon find out where those leaders have set up shop and that they do indeed have a lion's share of their followers with them.

The figures that I heard from Fox and other media prior to the invasion of Fllujah was 1-6 thousand. I do not know where you saw/heard a 20 thousand figure.

Saddam killed 300 000 total according to them too

Did I claim to be a military expert? No. I am simply a person who realizes you have to get your news from more than one source, am lucky enough to have access to international newcasts and takes advantage of it.

Just looked back and 20,000 is the estimated number released Oct. 23 for the number in Iraq with up to 10,000 in Fallujah. Lets go with the lower number in Fallujah. They say Fallujah is newarly reclaimed and they have killed 600 of them. Do any math you wish, 10,000-19,000 of them are regrouping somewhere. Wonder how long before the Iraqis revolt against destroying cities to get a few hundred at a time?

Well...the take down of Fullujah has only been in progress for a few days...and before the invasion began...it was reported by different media that 1-6 thousand were inside the city. Prior to the cordoning off of the city they may have reported up to ten thousand inside the city...but since it took time to cordon off the city some naturally snuck away... and in addition the people of the city were told to leave...and many did...so I would think there were some insurgents among that group. At this point in time no one knows how many may be left in the city...but it is my understanding that our forces are encircling the remaining insurgents and tightening the circle.

BTW...600 dead usually would mean up to 6,000 wounded. I have not heard any reports about the wounded or captured.

One can only hope that is so and that it can be done quickly but one also has to wonder how much more effective they could have been if they hadn't decided to pull back until after the election.

Does anyone know (and can reference a reliable source) on the current count of seriously wounded US soldiers?

This is one figure that has been carefully and consistently kept in the background - only the 'bagged and tagged' tallies have been presented to the public on an ongoing basis.

The released death toll is *much* smaller than the actual number of seriously wounded (which are physically damaged for life).

I'm sure as do many, that the shock of knowing exactly how many American lives have been permanently devastated (dead or disabled for life) would shed a different light on the real costs of this 'war'.

Haven't seen any current count but at the beginning of September MSNBC had it near 7000. This was prior to the KIA number passing 1000.
